Post-Pahalgam attack (26 tourists killed), Rajnath-PM Modi discuss security as India suspends Indus Treaty. Pakistan’s LoC ceasefire violations, NOTAM escalate tensions; India conducts live-fire drills.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a 40-minute meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 28, 2025, to review security preparedness amid escalating tensions following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 tourists.
India has responded by suspending the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty and imposing diplomatic measures against Pakistan.
Along the Line of Control (LoC), Pakistan’s ceasefire violations with small arms fire persisted for the fourth consecutive night, accompanied by redeployment of heavy military equipment.
Pakistan also issued a NOTAM, closing air routes between Islamabad and Lahore (April 28–30), heightening regional tensions. India countered with live-fire drills, signaling heightened readiness.
The fragile LoC ceasefire, in place since 2021, now stands shattered. Rajnath earlier met military chiefs to weigh options against perpetrators of the Pahalgam attack.
